Hello everyone! This is my first official blog post. And who am I? My name is Jill. That’s right. I’m giving Kathy a break this week since she’s been busy helping me take care of my puppies. Oh yeah, maybe I should mention that I’m not really a person. I am a purebred 4 year old Border Collie. That’s a picture of me and my puppies at the top. I’ve been hearing about these “Not Me Monday” posts and they sounded pretty interesting, so I thought I’d give it a try. I think you’ll find it very interesting.
First, there is no way that I decided to come in “Season” the week after Jerrad and Kathy got married. I knew they had a lot going on so I did not try to hinder them by digging out of the lot, tearing through chain link, and climbing out of kennels. I also did not decide to have a little honeymooon fun of my own with the other males in the lot (one beagle and another border collie). And better yet, I’m pretty sure that I didn’t make it very very hard for Kathy to figure out who “got to me.”
Then, I know I didn’t hide my pregnancy until the last two weeks (they just thought I had gained some weight). And after the puppies were born, there is no way that those puppies could look like either beagles or border collies so they don’t know whether they will have to sell them or beg people to take them.
And now, I’m not keeping my humans busy by constantly trying to break out of a steel horse trailer (which I did not break out of completely at least once). And I certainly did not get scared of the fireworks the other night and climb across the trailer divider to hide in the bottom drawer of an old dresser that is being stored there for now. And I kind of didn’t forget to bring my puppies with me (oops!). The next day, I did not decide that the dresser would be a better place to keep my puppies and did not try to bring them over there with me. Kathy did not catch me in the act and make me put them back. Well, it seems that Kathy has caught on to my antics and fixed everything so I can’t do what I want. So it would be very bad if I had decided to constantly move the puppies to different places in the trailer and never leave them in the same place for more than 8 hours. Whew! I sure have been busy keeping my humans busy. And one more thing…Kathy decided to put up some sticky fly paper to try to keep down the flies. But, I’m pretty sure that I did not get hung up in at least 2 of those papers and have them stuck all over my body and around my tail so that she had to cut them off of me.
Well, I had better run on now. My puppies are hungry and I’m going to see what other people food I can finagle out of Kathy.

Gunner & Me - 1st Place ProNovice
Gunner and I won 3rd on Saturday, 1st on Sunday and the Overall Prize this weekend at herding trial at Red Creek Farm in Townville.. It’s the highest we’ve ever placed in this particular class. We’ve been working and training in this class for over a year now. I’m so proud of him!

Jill, Gunner, and Zip
I’m surprised my mom hasn’t fussed at me for not posting lately, but we’ve all been a little preoccupied. The last 6 weeks have been busy with the start of school, wedding planning, MK, and family illnesses.
The start of the school year has been much smoother than last year. Personally, I’m struggling with the motivation to do what needs to be done, but somehow it all manages to get done on time.
Wedding planning (yay! how exciting!) has gone so smoothly…so much like our relationship has been. We’ve set a date (April 4 09), booked a site, a photographer, purchased a dress, picked out flowers, arranged for a caterer, and so much more! I really want to have every detail set in stone so that I can enjoy our wedding day. About the only thing left to decide is where to go on our honeymoon. Any suggestions for an affordable honeymoon destination?
I’ve also decided to really Kick-off and get my Mary Kay business going. There are so many expenses coming up in the next year or so that I need the extra income. So, if your’e interested in purchasing some MK products, let me know. If you’re interested in a FREE FACIAL let me know.
The last several weeks have been full of family health issues. My grandfather’s health continues to decline and there have been a few setbacks. All in all, his spirits are great and he’s still loving every minute he gets to spend with his family. The real scare was my mom’s health. She began having intense abdominal pains a few weeks ago. After tests, they thought she has a mass or a blockage. Our biggest fear was the big “C” word. Praise our Lord it turned out to be an acute/severe case of diverticulitis. I’m so thankful that her condition is treatable and not terminal. Thanks to all of you who have prayed for her!
I wanted to include a picture of my “babies.” Yesterday we had a “play day” romping in the pasture and taking pictures. They could be professional dog models (if such a thing existed!).

A great friend of mine recently purchased L&L Feed in Six Mile, SC. I know he’ll do an amazing job with this store. The store is only a few miles from Pickens, Easley, Liberty, Six Mile, Seneca, and Walhalla. If you live somewhere in the area and need supplies for dogs, cats, horses, cows, sheep, etc, please stop by. I know he’d appreciate the business!

…to my dog family that is. Here is the first picture of my new border collie puppy.
She was born on Dec 11 and was 2 weeks old yesterday. She’s out of
Red Creek Molly and
Hubert Bailey’s Cap. She should be a very nice working dog. Let’s just hope she’s a nice working dog so that she and Gunner can have some nice puppies one day. I haven’t come up with a name for sure. I’ll take any suggestions you may have.
