Since I got sick in college (and those of you who knew me then, know how sick I was), I haven’t eaten very healthy. My doctor told me to eat, eat, eat in order to gain weight. The problem with that is that once I reached my target weight, I didn’t stop eat, eat, eating. I went well over the 134-140lbs I was before I got sick. Now, I’m heavier than I want to be and way out of shape. My BMI is 24.1…almost at overweight. God calls us to honor our bodies as His temple and my current health condition (Crohn’s disease) demands a very balance lifestyle, so I’ve got to do something!
I struggle with maintaining a daily exercise routine. It’s very hard to stay motivated when I’m exercising by myself. Jerrad is trying to get in shape and lose weight too, but he lives 40 minutes away so it’s difficult to get together on a daily basis. My mom wants to exercise more, but with all that’s going on with my Papa, she doesn’t have the time or energy.
So what do I have in mind? I’m considering First Place 4 Health. It’s a redfined version of the First Place that was popular in the 90s. It’s a Christ centered approach to healthy living. I hope to be leading a group at my church beginning in January 09, but I need to get some practice first. I want to begin going through the program on my on. Here’s the problem…remember where I said that I can’t stay motivated by myself? Well, I need some accountability. I’m thinking of starting a web/blog based First Place 4 Health where we can come together weekly and share our successes and even our struggles. We can weigh in the privacy of our own homes yet still have personal accountability. If you’re interested in starting, let me know.
