Honeymooners

For our honeymoon, we spent our first night at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort.  Our room was in the Spa facility…very peaceful and relaxing.  I highly recommend it for people who want to get away and enjoy some quiet.  Funny story-when we checked in to the hotel, they attendant explained to us that there were bathrobes in our room and we could wear them to breakfast the next morning.  We got up, showered, and dressed and went to breakfast.  We were the ONLY couple NOT dressed in bathrobes.  We have never felt so uncomfortable being completely dressed.

We then headed on to Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN.  It was an experience we’ll never forget since we got lost several times inside the hotel.  It was enjoyable, though.  Our package gave us champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, breakfast in bed, and free valet parking.  We felt like royalty!  We even saw Darius Rucker on our last night.  He was staying at the same hotel.

We did decide that anything remotely touristy cost A-LOT of money.  We spent some time downtown and visited the Country Music Hall of Fame (which I do not recommend.  Too expensive for what you see), Hard Rock Nashville, the Ryman, and eveything else there is to see and do in about a 10 block range.

On Tuesday, we got to see the Grand Ole Opry while we were sitting in the second row.  Awesome!  I highly recommend it!  Mark Wills, Restless Heart, Dailey & Vincent, and others performed while we were there.  It was great!

We also visited the Nashville Zoo.  It was fun but VERY cold that day.  We loved the meerkats and the white tiger cubs.

Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.  We were ready to leave to get back to a normal routine, but we were sad to see it all end.  We were very thankful to have the opportunity to go.

Newly-wed

Jerrad and I got married on April 4 at Biggerstaff Retreat Center in Seneca.  It was absolutely gorgeous!  The weather was perfect, the setting was perfect…it was all perfect!  My dad walked me down the aisle, my brother sang and prayed a prayer of dedication (and made us cry like babies!), and my niece and nephew were the ringbearer and flowergirl.  It was the perfect family event!

The most special event was Jerrad playing and singing “Shining Star,” a song he wrote for me right after we started dating.  He did an amazing job as always.  During the rest of the cermony he held my hands and rubbed my hand with his thumb…SO sweet!

All of our friends and family surrounded us.  Even Amanda, Rhonda, Amy, LeAnne, and Josh!  I was THRILLED to see them!  It has been way too long and I vowed (with Jerrad to help) to be a better friend a keep in touch.

The reception was great even though the caterer wouldn’t let the guests eat until Jerrad and I arrived.  We had a guitar theme…guitar chocolates, guitar mints, guitar groom’s cake, and even guitar pick favors.  It was awesome!

Unfortunately I was so tired and thirsty that I didn’t feel like eating any of my wedding cake with the exception of the little bit that got smeared on my face.

I hope to post some more pictures and newlywed events soon…

The Details

You can find the details of our wedding here on our wedding website.  Yay!!  Also, if I need your address, please send it; otherwise, I may forget to ask.

Hiatus Update

Jill, Gunner, and Zip

I’m surprised my mom hasn’t fussed at me for not posting lately, but we’ve all been a little preoccupied.  The last 6 weeks have been busy with the start of school, wedding planning, MK, and family illnesses.

The start of the school year has been much smoother than last year.  Personally, I’m struggling with the motivation to do what needs to be done, but somehow it all manages to get done on time.

Wedding planning (yay! how exciting!) has gone so smoothly…so much like our relationship has been.  We’ve set a date (April 4 09), booked a site, a photographer, purchased a dress, picked out flowers, arranged for a caterer, and so much more!  I really want to have every detail set in stone so that I can enjoy our wedding day.  About the only thing left to decide is where to go on our honeymoon.  Any suggestions for an affordable honeymoon destination?

I’ve also decided to really Kick-off and get my Mary Kay business going.  There are so many expenses coming up in the next year or so that I need the extra income.  So, if your’e interested in purchasing some MK products, let me know.  If you’re interested in a FREE FACIAL let me know.

The last several weeks have been full of family health issues.  My grandfather’s health continues to decline and there have been a few setbacks.  All in all, his spirits are great and he’s still loving every minute he gets to spend with his family.   The real scare was my mom’s health.  She began having intense abdominal pains a few weeks ago.  After tests, they thought she has a mass or a blockage. Our biggest fear was the big “C” word.  Praise our Lord it turned out to be an acute/severe case of diverticulitis.  I’m so thankful that her condition is treatable and not terminal.  Thanks to all of you who have prayed for her!

I wanted to include a picture of my “babies.”  Yesterday we had a “play day” romping in the pasture and taking pictures.  They could be professional dog models (if such a thing existed!).
